Guns Guns Guns!

Whoa. Two strange things happened today.
1. I went to the gym and exercised - ouch
2. I saw a news story about how a Maryland mayor's home was mistakenly raided by the S.W.A.T. team in a marijuana drug bust and that the mayor's two dogs were killed as a result. Mayor Cheye Calvo held a press conference calling for an investigation into the raid and emphasized how his dogs were members of the family. Then I realized that during the raid, the mayor thought he was being attacked by armed robbers. The police believed that the mayor's two black labs were a threat. Imagine if one of his family members had reached for a gun? We watched the beginning of the gun control episode from 30 Days. I wish people could settle their disputes in obstacle course relay races. I think Canada might still be pretty non-threatening.

Three Panel Dooce

Come on now. First Barack Obama's MySpace garbage and now this? Matt of Three Panel Soul (read: Comics) was recently fired from his contract position with the Navy for discussing guns in the workplace. Now, I discuss guns in the workplace all the time because of my "Save the Breasts" mantra, but in this case, he was talking about shooting paper targets with a .22. Sure, this is a totally idiotic discussion, but it probably only warrants a terror threat orange - which we all know is pretty much standard at this point. Unfortunately, Matt's workplace gun discussion was on the same day as the Virginia Tech shootings and people lost it. This reminds me of a story I read in 2002 about Heather B. Armstrong, the graphic designer who edited Dooce.com at night. Heather, who never named any coworkers or the company name, was fired because the organization's HR folks found her blog posts. Shit man, what is even the point in protecting a country where you can't be yourself?

*Note: There was a written explanation up on Three Panel Soul, but I assume it was taken down due to some sort of confidentiality agreement?

Tahoe: SHitting the Fan

Tahoe and the journey to Tahoe are great! Altamont Pass & its wind turbines make an excellent backdrop for any upcoming zombie/ninja/pirate movie; however, it appears that the turbines themselves are more interested in splattering raptor brains rather than man brains.

Hippies are so damn comfortable. Let's think about preserving ourselves as a species. When the real shit hits the fan and the zombies take over, there is no way I'm sharing my guns, rations and wind turbine generator. Plus, thanks to petchouli, we'll know exactly where those stinky bastards are.
